Filming: Behind the Scenes
I create a lot of tutorial videos on my YouTube channel, and share behind the scenes. Showing raw footage of bloopers, or even me getting back onto my Stand Up Paddle board, is almost cringe-worthy, so why do I share this?
I make myself vulnerable to be a very real example to others. When we provide humor, and examples of creative content it provides opportunities to facilitate connection, learning and engagement!
If you know me, you know that I conduct myself professionally, therefore creating content that shows another side of me, is stretching my comfort zone. I think it’s good to stretch what we ‘typically’ do, because it also stretches our creativity, reach and engagement with our audience. Everyone learns differently and there are those who need something else to spark their interest.
When we facilitate learning or meetings, we want people to dive into the engagement of the content. With most of our meetings and training on-line, sometimes we have to shake things up a bit (within what is appropriate for your context). This video was appropriate for the context of my YouTube channel, for my diverse audience and as a real example of what inspires me. What inspires you? What can you do that is creative and relevant to your context? I encourage you to try to reach and engage the people who may be tuning out in a meeting or training, and spark their interest to pay attention.
