-
- The top tip from the blog is to use Mentimeter to make your presentations interactive by adding live polls, quizzes, or word clouds. This approach helps you engage your audience and gain insights into their opinions, knowledge, or preferences in real-time.
- Tip for Those Not Using Mentimeter: If you’re not using Mentimeter, you can achieve similar interactivity by leveraging tools like Google Forms (for live surveys or quizzes), Kahoot (for gamified quizzes), or even simple techniques like asking participants to respond in the chat, use reaction buttons, or unmute during discussions. The goal is to create a sense of participation and make the audience feel heard and involved.

-
- The standout tip is to provide clear instructions and goals for each breakout room session. This ensures participants understand their tasks and stay focused, leading to productive and meaningful discussions.
- For Those Not Using Zoom or Online Breakout Rooms: If you’re using a different platform, look for tools that allow group discussions (e.g., Microsoft Teams, Webex, or Google Meet) and apply the same principles of clarity and structure. Assign facilitators or leaders in each group to guide the discussion and report back to the larger group.
- For In-Person or Onsite Facilitation: When working onsite, simulate breakout rooms by dividing participants into small groups or tables for focused discussions. Use tools like flip charts, sticky notes, or handouts to guide group activities. Clearly define the goals, allocate specific roles (e.g., note-taker, presenter), and set a time limit. After the activity, reconvene the entire group for debriefing and sharing insights.

-
- The top tip for those using Canva to present is to explore Canva’s Presenter View to access speaker notes and control slides efficiently during your presentation. This feature allows for a polished delivery by giving you a private view of your notes while your audience only sees the slides.
- If you use other platforms like PowerPoint, Google Slides, or Keynote, leverage their presenter tools (e.g., Presenter View in PowerPoint or Google Slides’ Presenter Tools) to access speaker notes and better manage your presentation flow. If you prefer simpler tools or printouts, you can achieve the same result by keeping a physical or digital document of your notes nearby for reference.

-
- The key takeaway is customizing your Zoom waiting room with a welcome message, branded visuals, or a video. This sets a professional tone, engages participants before the meeting starts, and ensures they have clear instructions or context while waiting.
- For Those Not Using Zoom: If you’re using other virtual meeting platforms like Microsoft Teams, Webex, or Google Meet that don’t offer the same customization options, you can still create a welcoming experience: Send a welcome email with meeting details, expectations, and a link to pre-read materials. Use the meeting lobby or pre-meeting space (if available) to greet attendees and provide instructions.
- For in-person settings, replicate this concept by displaying a welcome slide, playing soft background music, or having printed materials available as participants arrive. These small touches set the tone and prepare attendees for a productive session.
- Pro Tip for All Platforms: Always think about the participant experience from the moment they arrive, whether online or in person. A welcoming and informative environment makes a strong first impression and enhances engagement.
